The JHARKHAND Bowlers have displayed their outstanding skill and performance at International Level. In the recently concluded Commonwealth Games our players have displayed their skill and astonished the world fraternity of Bowls BY WINNING 1 GOLD AND 1 SILVER MEDAL.

Lawn Bowls being the Core Sport of Commonwealth Games, are a sport in Asian Games now AND are included in NATIONAL GAMES since 2007 and have lot of chances of winning medals at National Championships & National Games out of maximum probable 10 Set of Medals (40 Medals) Medals. Our Players have won 5 Gold Medal, 2 Silver Medal and 2 Bronze Medals during 38th National Games at Uttarakhand. We have won 50% of Gold Medals out of total Medals.

JHARKHAND BOWLING ASSOCIATION has been preparing two categories of players from amongst who perform at INTERNATIONAL/National Championships. The Groups have been named as;

  1. Elite Group: will include 8 players of each gender who win maximum medals at National Championships/ National Games and also obtain higher percentage in tactical training and skill of Lawn Bowls.
  2. Back-up Group/ Intermediate Group: The 8 second best medal winners of each gender will be included or the 8 who obtain higher % in skill training.
  3. Skill, continuity and discipline will essentially be the Three major factors for selection in the above panel which will be decided by the Selection Committee before each Competetions.
  4. 6 players of each gender under the age of 25 Years will also be selected as Intermediate Level of Players.

In principle there will be matches amongst players of elite group, Back-up / Intermediate group, the Bottom 2 of Elite Group will be replaced by Top 2 of Back-up group/ intermediate group after considering the Medals at National & International level of players and personal skill test to be decided by the Coach with CWG Medallists. In the Selection Committee panel one Player from each Gender will be kept as selectors to check no deserving players should remain unselected from the squad. The Coach will be authorised to select the team composition keeping in mind the surface to be played and the skill of the players to get maximum advantages of the FOP (Field of Play) and win maximum Medals for the State of Jharkhand. The Coach will have the right to select the 6th Player for the Team who may be a part of the contingent.

Jharkhand Bowling Association will endeavour to start either Residential Training Centre or Centre of Excellence as it has its own Bowling Green in a substantial area at Bargama, Namkom. We require the support of Sports Department, Government of Jharkhand or we may approach PSUs/Pvt Sector Undertakings etc for support under CSR initiative.

Lawn Bowls being the sport of etiquettes hence every player shall have to abide by the Rules and etiquettes of the Bowling and any infringement by any player/s whatsoever will severally be dealt with and no compromise will be done.
